About Teresa

Years ago, when Teresa Anne Power began teaching yoga to kids, she was surprised to discover that there were no good yoga-inspired children’s books on the market. As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention, so Teresa decided to publish one herself. Her first book, The ABCs of Yoga for Kids, not only filled an unmet need, but also sparked a series of books, learning cards, and posters that have now been published in five languages and inspired countless other authors. She followed up with a second bestselling and award-winning picture book series, Little Mouse Adventures, which deftly combine entertaining storytelling with yoga and life skills.

For Teresa, a good story is one that imparts a positive message without overtly stating it. In her own books, playful storytelling is woven together with lessons of yoga, mindfulness, and conquering fears. She hopes her young readers come away from her stories with a newfound love of yoga and a toolkit of life skills that stay with them long after the book is closed.

A graduate of University of Southern California, Teresa earned her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, and in 2002 completed a yoga training program with Indigo Yoga. Having practiced yoga for over forty years, she is the founder of International Kids’ Yoga Day, which hundreds of thousands of children have participated in since 2016.
