Mindful coloring is a way for kids to be in the present moment, and learn how to quiet their minds and bodies. Have children color the picture below and ask them to pay attention to their breath, the tree design, and their choice of colors.  As they relax while coloring, their breathing will automatically start to slow down.

Set a timer for 5 minutes to start, and explain to kids that if they hear, smell, or see anything while coloring (such as a vacuum cleaner, the smell of food cooking, or their dog stretching beside them) to just continue coloring and be in the present moment.

Coloring is a meditative, creative and fun way for kids to zen out and be in the now!
